To ensure that the coating is consistent from part to part, it is important to load a full batch of precision component parts in very batch. If a full batch of parts are not available, the shortfall is usually made up with dummy parts to ensure a full-load. So, it is common for PVD/DLC coating companies to specify a minimum dollar/batch, along with the unit price.
