Liquid nitriding is a subcritical surface enhancement process with one of the longest track records of success of any case hardening technology.
PVD coatings involve the deposition of thin (2-10 microns; 0.0001" – 0.0004") films on the surface of tools and components.
Shown below are some examples of the 40 different test rigs that are currently available at our tribology testing labs. These rigs were developed to conduct component-level testing by simulating component specific wear and contact modes; operating parameters; loading characteristics etc. These rigs are instrumented to gather performance parameters such as temperature, forces, friction data etc.
This data is analyzed to characterize the complete tribological behavior of the component and to suggest ways for improving wear and friction characteristics. These test rigs are used both for independent tribology studies for customers and for developing new and innovative surface treatments and coatings - which can then be offered as value-added jobbing services to customers.
